These are mos def NOT beginner mats…those you can already get at most sports stores and drugstores here in TnT.  I am only ordering specialty mats for those of you who are ready to graduate.Unfortunately the Utopian Sticky Mat I used to sell is no longer being produced.  The Jade Mat I also used to sell – while it had an awesome grip – I have found doesn’t stand up to the heat and gets slippery on the floor pretty quick for the kind of money you spend on it.  I also didn’t want to go with the mats that everyone is already selling here so I did some research to find alternatives.  These are the mats that I am going to go with both listed in the top 10…

1. The Liforme Mat and
2. The BMat

I have put together a catalogue of sorts so that you can see what can be ordered.

These are the standard coloured SIGNATURE MATS

There are now even more colours in the Signature mats:

There are also 2 groups of Specialty Mats…
Here are the

LOVE Mat (red), the Happiness Mat (orange), the Gratitude Mat (deeper pink) and the Zodiac Mats
$1,500.00TT (price to be confirmed after Customs clearance)

The handpoint symbols on these mats are HEARTS on the Love mat, BIRDS on the Happiness Mat. The Gratitude mat has an embellished etching design inspired by the theme of ‘Gratitude’ consisting of prayer hands and blossoming lotus flowers at the centre of the alignment guide.

Pig is the twelfth in the 12-year cycle of the Chinese zodiac signs. The Years of the Pig include 1923, 1935, 1947, 1959, 1971, 1983, 1995, 2007, 2019, 2031, 2043…As the last sign of the Chinese zodiac, Pig represents wealth and luck from the ancient times. It is docile, has no plan to harm others, and can bring affluence to people. And its chubby faces and large ears also win the affection of people. However, pig sometimes is not thought to be a smart animal in China as it likes sleeping and eating and becomes fat, and thus it also features laziness and clumsiness.

Dog is the eleventh in the 12-year cycle of Chinese zodiac animals. The recent Years of the Dog include 1922, 1934, 1946, 1958, 1970, 1982, 1994, 2006, 2018, 2030, 2042…

Dog is men’s good friend who can understand the human spirit and obey its master, whether he is wealthy or not. Chinese people regard it as an auspicious animal. If a dog happens to come to a house, it symbolizes the coming of fortune. In Chinese legend, the invincible God Erlang has a loyal dog partner to help him capture monsters.

Rat is the first in the 12-year cycle of the Chinese zodiac. The Years of the Rat include 1912, 1924, 1936, 1948, 1960, 1972, 1984, 1996, 2008, 2020, 2032…

An interesting Chinese legend about the ranking of the Rat goes that the Chinese supreme deity Jade Emperor held a birthday party and would decide the order of the zodiac animals according to their arrival times. Originally, the hardworking Ox departed early and should be the first one to reach. However, the Rat hid in the Ox’s ear and jumped down when arriving, occupying the first place. Thus the Rat had since been the No. 1 in the 12-year cycle and represents spirit, wit, alertness, delicacy, and flexibility.

What’s more, the vitality of the Rat including the high fertility and high survival rate also makes it a lucky sign for couples hoping to conceive.

There are also other Specialty Mats available that can be ordered…
Below are the Dragon and the Pheonix mats
Many folks ask why these particular mats are so expensive…welllll…you are paying extra for the artwork!  The gold and coloured inks are made from a special non-toxic, eco-friendly ink.  The centre symbols more intricately designed and each mat has a different hand point image.  For example, the Dragon and Pheonix mats have a Ying/Yang symbol.

These are the standard colours.  I was drawn to them because of their bright colours.  But they are also a bit cheaper.  They do not come with fancy designs or packaging or a mat bag and that’s what they sell…SIMPLICITY.  It’s a Canadian brand and I heard about from my friends in other yoga studios there…
including our very own…DANEA!!!  She has the Saffron mat!

Comes in Deep Purple, Ocean Green, Charcoal, Black, Deep Blue, Saffron, Sunrise Red, Sienna and Cacao

The 6mm is comparable to the Manduka Pro and the 4mm is comparable to the Manduka ProLite
The standard length is comparable to Manduka and Liforme, but their extra long measurement is as follows:

At the end of the day, no mat is perfect…I just realized that the Manduka was PVC…alllll this time I thought it was a sturdy natural rubber…this explains why I always found the mat to be slippery for me.  The Liforme is great, but could do with some more length.  And while the BMat is so gorgeous with its bright colours, it will require a bit of extra care to clean the bright colours, but Danea says is quite easy and she loves her Saffron mat!

Strong (6mm) $1050.00TT (Regular length, 5lbs);
Strong (6mm) $1150.00TT (Extra Long, 5.8lbs )

Everyday (4mm) $850.00TT (Regular length, 4.1lbs);
Everyday (4mm) $950TT (Extra Long, 4.5lbs)

Which mat you choose is totally dependent on the weight you think you can handle and how much travelling you have to do with it and the cushioning you need for your knees.  The thicker, the more cushioning, the thinner, the lighter to walk around with.
