What is a Doula?

The Doula Alliance of Trinidad and Tobago (DATT) is an association that was formed in 2006 and is comprised of Birth and Postpartum Doulas in Trinidad & Tobago. Our group of Doulas is incredibly diverse and many of us have been trained and certified by International organizations.

The word “Doula” comes from the ancient Greek meaning “a woman who serves” and is now used to refer to a trained and experienced professional who provides continuous physical, emotional and informational support to the mother before, during and just after birth; or who provides emotional and practical support during the postpartum period.

If you are interested in hiring a birth or postpartum Doula, please contact DATT at doulaalliancett@gmail.com or at 707-5279
