WHO ARE THE CAMP COUNSELLORS?
#1 – KAREN BLACKMAN
Karen Blackman is the founder of CAMP KULA, which began in 2018! She first got her camping experience from camping back in the day at YMCA on Wrightson Rd., and and then from camping in Bermuda – where her mother was born and where she visited in the Summers. Then later, from her experience attending her parent’s camps – The Blackman’s Summer School and Camps back in 1978 and 1979! Who would have thought that camp could be so much fun! In fact, it was because of these camps, that Blackman’s Private School was established in 1979…the parents and kids just couldn’t get enough! After noticing the latest trends of camps becoming more like babysitting experiences and quite honestly, looking so boring! She decided it was time to bring back the old and make it new! BRING ON THE FUN!!
HER QUALIFICATIONS:
Karen is an E-RYT® 500 yoga teacher. She is certified to teach hot yoga, yin yoga, meditation, aerial yoga and vinyasa yoga and is the creator/founder of The Sangha Trinidad, as well as The Sangha Trinidad’s Yoga Teacher Training Program. The Sangha Trinidad was established in 2005 and is an RYS® 500 school (currently the only yoga alliance 500hr registered school in this part of the Caribbean), making it just over 18 years that she has been teaching. During this time she has also worked with many kids teaching quite a few youth yoga classes at various schools and at her yoga studios. She has been successful in earning their trust when it comes to them learning new things…they love her! She also has a 14 year old niece and 4 year old nephew, who keep her young at heart and other than that, she just can’t wait to have fun with your children!!
